Before we dive in: Rey and the Archive exists because of paid subscribers. Your support helps me write, research, show up, and build the kind of queer community I wish I had growing up. If you value art, queer joy, resources, and community stories, consider subscribing for $5/month. It really does make a difference and keeps this work going. That’s the price of an iced coffee on a hot summer day.
🔒 Up next for paid subscribers: I will be sharing about my first date and navigating intimacy as a young transgender person in my 20s.
Background
As of August 30, 2025, 27 states have banned most (if not all) gender-affirming care for minors. The Justice Department has even subpoenaed hospitals and clinics to hand over the private health records of transgender patients.
And just this week, Texas passed a bathroom bill forcing transgender and intersex people to use facilities based on their “biological sex.”
The relentless attack on our community shows no signs of stopping. But there is power in our voices, and together we can push back.
Take Action
Note: The survey will soon be available in Korean, Hindi, and Vietnamese starting September 8th, 2025. Everyone deserves a chance to be heard; language should not be a barrier!
If you’re transgender and/or intersex, 18 or older, and living in the U.S., we need your voice now more than ever.
As a member of the Point of Pride Community Advisory Board, I invite you to take this important survey:
The survey is:
Available in English and Spanish (25 minutes to complete)
100% confidential
Open to transgender and intersex adults across the U.S.
By sharing your healthcare experiences (the good, the bad, and the ugly), we can build tools that ensure a future where gender-affirming care is accessible for all.
Because transgender people who access gender-affirming care must be at the center of the conversation.
Done! Thank you for sharing about the survey!
